Sheikh Alaa Elsayed
Sheikh Alaa Elsayed, born in Cairo, moved to Toronto in the late 1970s. In his youth, he was a goalie for Egypt’s Junior National Team. He later worked as Vice-President of Business Development for an international company and placed first in the 1992 Bermuda Triathlon. Sheikh Alaa studied Shariah at the American International University and earned a scholarship from the Shari’ah Academy/Mishkah University. He holds an ijazah in Quran recitation and has studied comparative religion for five years.

Currently, Sheikh Alaa serves as Director of Religious Affairs for the Islamic Centre of Canada-ISNA and is a member of the Canadian Council of Imams. He has held various leadership roles, including Executive Director of the Canadian Islamic Congress, and was recognized for his community service by the Alberta Government and the City of Mississauga.
